In Progress: MIDLOTHIAN PUBLIC SAFETY & COURTS BUILDING, CITY OF MIDLOTHIAN, TEXAS

The Midlothian Public Service Memorial is designed to honor Midlothian’s dedicated public safety personnel and is inspired by the desire to articulate a vision for multi-use public safety facility that honors all first responders, reflecting on the historical context of public safety losses in the area. Six (6) Corten steel panels, each standing almost 10 feet tall, will be laser-cut with a custom design, then welded to base plates to create a dynamic vertical standing multi-panel installation.  Vibrant dichroic glass pieces will be affixed to the back of each panel to be seen through the laser cut details. The words on each individual panel were thoughtfully chosen by first responders of the area to honor those currently in service and those lost. These words embody the core values held by the public safety personnel: Honor, Trust, Commitment, Courage, Service and Sacrifice.

The 77,000-square-foot Public Safety & Courts facility will be the combined home of Midlothian’s Police, Fire and EMS administrative services as well as the city’s Municipal Court, and is scheduled to complete in mid-Spring 2025, with the artwork plaza following in late 2025/early 2026.
