New Installation: Crossroads to the World at Salt Lake City International Airport

Another major piece of Gordon’s expansive art program at Salt Lake City International Airport has taken flight.

Last month marked the installation of Crossroads to the World, Gordon’s newest artwork at SLC International Airport. Located in Concourse B East, the suspended installation was conceived as a companion to Swallows in Flight and continues the visual story established throughout the airport.

Featuring an array of suspended acrylic forms enhanced with dichroic film, Crossroads to the World responds to light, movement, and the constant flow of travelers below. Together with Gordon’s other monumental installations throughout SLC, the artwork helps transform the airport from a place of passage into an experience rooted in art, identity, and a sense of place.

The installation represents another milestone in Gordon’s long term collaboration with Salt Lake City International Airport and one of the most ambitious airport art programs of his career.
