On October 26th, 2019, Gordon will present on “Architectural Art Installations: Benefits and Best Practices” at the 2019 AIA Monterey Design Conference held at the beautiful Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, CA.

This presentation will describe the best practices, methods, theories and approaches for integrating art into architectural spaces. It is well recognized that artistic elements in built environments transform and create memorable and uplifting experiences for users of the space. In addition to providing aesthetic enhancements, thoughtful and well-integrated art can introduce welcoming, place-making and iconographic benefits to the architectural space. Gordon will review a variety of case studies, which demonstrate the benefits of integrating art in architectural and landscape settings. Techniques, approaches and methodology of art integration, along with best practices of adding an artist to the project team will also be discussed.
