In late 2023, the Des Moines International Airport and the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation invited Gordon to propose artworks for the new terminal, set to open in 2026. Gordon is thrilled and honored to be a finalist for his design proposals for all four sites within the terminal.

This $445.4 million project will double the terminal’s capacity, boosting central Iowa’s economic development and increasing air service to accommodate an estimated 1 million additional travelers. The new terminal’s highly visible spaces offer exciting opportunities for expansive and engaging art installations.
