The City of Fort Worth is currently designing a new facility for the South Patrol Division in Forth Worth, TX that is expected to complete in early 2022. The plans for this new police campus include an opportunity for a unique, integrated, exterior artwork that Gordon Huether Studio has been selected to design, fabricate and install.
After initial review from an Artist Selection Panel, followed by an in-person interview, Gordon was awarded the commission for a site-specific installation that was requested to have a commanding presence while simultaneously exhibiting a welcoming, approachable demeanor in order to make a visit to the police department facility less intimidating.
Before completing a concept design for this project, Gordon will visit Fort Worth to spend time with the Fort Worth Police Department as part of a “micro-residency” that will allow him to become immersed in the culture and language of the men and women who serve on the force. Gordon will learn of the values that the police officers hold, and what resonates with them, in order to better translate that language into an artistic experience that will become a part of their daily lives.
More to be shared on this project as we progress in the design phase. This is just one of the exciting projects in the works for Gordon Huether Studio!
