Gordon Huether’s work of art, Circle of Life, is in the process of being fabricated and will soon grace the entrance of the Caesar’s Republic Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. Expected to open its doors in early 2024, the hotel has been built with a contemporary glass structure that captures the majestic view of the desert and Camelback Mountain. The expansive design aims to facilitate open and inspiring spaces for social connection.
The Circle of Life sculpture expresses unity, timelessness, self-realization and relationships, ideals that balance and correspond to the concept the hotel aspires to.
Gordon believes that public artwork should stand the test of time; he designed the large circle to be made of stainless-steel, which demonstrates strength and longevity. The varying thickness of the overall circle – wider on the bottom, narrower on top – is intended to convey loyalty and survival (as in the expression of standing by someone or something through “thick and thin”).
At the heart of the sculpture is a dynamic, color-changing sphere that juxtaposes the stability demonstrated in the stainless steel with the fluidity of everyday life. The sphere symbolizes completeness, unity, equality, and acceptance.
Surrounding the sculpture, circular seating invites everyone to experience the artwork’s embrace and be inspired by the Circle of Life.
