We’re excited to share that Gordon Huether Studio has recently been shortlisted for four significant public art opportunities across the country. Each project offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with communities, stakeholders, and design teams to create site specific artwork that reflects local history, identity, and shared aspirations.
Elkridge Community Center | Elkridge, MD
The Elkridge Community and 50+ Center calls for a landmark artwork that celebrates the diversity and spirit of one of Howard County’s oldest communities. Our approach centers on creating a welcoming gathering place that reflects Elkridge’s history while embracing its future through meaningful community engagement and a strong narrative of place.
Beacon of Hope Fire & EMS Sculpture | Durham, NC
Located within Research Triangle Park, this opportunity seeks an innovative public artwork honoring the dedication of Fire and EMS personnel. Inspired by the invisible networks of service, preparedness, and care that keep communities safe, our vision explores light, movement, and technology to create an engaging civic landmark celebrating first responders and Durham’s culture of innovation.
Cross Street Revitalization Memorial | Boston, MA
Situated within Boston’s historic North End, this memorial will recognize generations of Italian American families whose labor and perseverance helped shape the city. Our proposal envisions a welcoming civic landmark that honors stories of immigration, belonging, and community while creating a meaningful place for reflection and connection.
Miami Founders Memorial at Bayfront Park | Miami, FL
This exciting opportunity will commemorate the founders and early visionaries who helped shape the City of Miami. Through thoughtful design and community collaboration, we hope to create an enduring public artwork that celebrates the city’s rich history while looking toward its vibrant future.
Being shortlisted is always an honor and reflects the continued trust that communities across the country place in public art as a catalyst for connection, storytelling, and placemaking. We’re grateful for the opportunity to participate in each of these inspiring projects and look forward to the next stage of the selection process.
