Artesa Vineyards & Winery Fountain

Napa, California, USA | Composite Material, Metal | 6 Sculptures @ 7’ H | 1999

Overview

In 1997 Huether became permanent artist-in-residence at Artesa Vineyards & Winery. The dramatic architecture of the new winery created a perfect environment for Huether to exhibit his fine art and sculpture. One of the first pieces Huether completed was a series of six sculptures made from a composite of resin, fiberglass and powdered aluminum for the fountain at the vineyard’s entrance.

The monolithic forms echo the architecture of the winery, while reflecting the surrounding environment off their metallic surfaces. The relationship with Artesa gives Huether the chance to fully explore more intimate, autonomous works in media such as collage, canvas, collagraphs, metal and sculpture. This relationship allows the intimate and monumental works of art to each reflect the ideas and inspirations of the other.
