Public Art + Private Treasures @ Art Ventures Gallery in Menlo Park, CA

We're excited to announce the upcoming solo exhibition "Public Art + Private Treasures" at Art Ventures Gallery in Menlo Park, CA, July 8 until September 6, 2017. Gallery owner Katharina Powers approached Gordon late last year in an effort to create a show that not only showcases Huether's fine art work but also touches on his large-scale, site-specific, permanent art installations. The exhibit will kick off with an artist talk on July 12, 5-7PM!

Public Art Award for Exciting Activation Project at Downtown Fresno's Mariposa Plaza

As one of five finalists, Gordon was selected as the winning artist to create artwork for Fresno’s downtown Mariposa Plaza, in the heart of the city. The Plaza is currently part of an activation project and Gordon’s artwork will be a substantial addition to its redesign. The $200,000 public art project is partially funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and was awarded just a few weeks ago!

SLC Update – We’re making headway!

Together with FabriTec Structures, LLC and Rainier Industries we have been making substantial progress fabricating the fins for the largest of our installations at SLC airport ‘The Canyon.’ We are currently counting 150 completed fins of 508 and four huge containers of the aluminum frames for these fins have already been delivered to the airport awaiting their installation in 2020! In addition, we are happy to report that all glass components for the dazzling 65-foot tall escalator well sculpture have been delivered and are now awaiting final installation. There is a lot more to be completed, but progress has been steady!

Fish Back In the Water! Public Art Award for Tacoma Aquarium Project

The Metro Parks Tacoma Public Art Program recently selected Gordon to create artwork for the new Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Gordon understands the importance of protecting the very delicate ecosystems that are our oceans and was very inspired by the Aquarium’s main interpretive theme, "We share the ocean and the responsibility to protect it." He is very honored to create artwork for this prestigious institution.

Public Art Light Mitigation Screen in Vail, Colorado

The undulating Corten steel mountain-scape is nearing the end of its fabrication phase. Approximately one year ago, the town of Vail’s Art in Public Places (AIPP) board selected Gordon for a permanent, site-specific public art installation at the I-70 Vail Underpass.

Two-part Vibrant Kinetic Sculptures Dedicated In Aurora, CO

On Saturday June 10, 2017 nine major artworks, including a two-part installation by Gordon, commissioned for the recently opened “R” line, were dedicated by the City of Aurora, CO and the Regional Transportation District (RTD). The artworks represent a major partnership between the City and RTD and this new collection was one of the reasons that the NY Times named Aurora, CO one of the top 10 places to see public art in 2017. We’re delighted to be a part of this collection!
