Gordon’s Iconic Gateway Sculpture at Napa’s New Archer Hotel

The highly anticipated Archer Hotel Napa, which serves as the anchor for the First Street Napa development, officially opened its doors on November 27, 2017. Gordon was commissioned to create The Basket, which is an exterior artwork and serves as a focal point and wayfinding element to the entrance of the hotel. The 22-foot sculpture, which incorporates horizontal woven aluminum bands and inset dichroic glass panels, is sure to become an iconic gateway for First Street Napa.

You Are Here! SLC Update

We are making headway with the redesign, de-assembling and reconstruction of new elements for Jenkyn Powell’s original 1970s stained glass art installation You Are Here, previously installed at the original SLC International Airport and now heading for a new home at the newly expanded SLC airport. Glass artist Jenkyn Powell visited the Studio in September 2017 to discuss proposed additions to the original piece, restoration and fabrication details, and a reinstallation plan into the new airport space. The relocation of ‘You Are Here’ is an integral part of Huether’s curatorial master plan for the Salt Lake City Department of Airport’s fine art collection.

SUU School of Business Suspended Public Art Installation

The Utah Public Art Program recently invited Gordon to create a suspended art installation for the new Southern Utah University School of Business in Cedar City. The selected proposal ‘Canyon Light’ will be a luminous, colorful addition to the architecture of the SUU Business Building. Inspirations for the installation were the unique geological formations of the Wall Street Slot Canyon in nearby Bryce Canyon National Park, and the towering buildings lining the narrow streets of lower Manhattan’s Wall Street.

Exclusive Art Exhibition at ‘House of Light’ in Silicon Valley

‘The House of Light’, a residence in Menlo Park designed by star architect John Thodos, is featuring a private exhibit of Gordon's work until the end of 2017. The architecture of this home is inspired by the 1930s Maison de Verre in Paris by Pierre Chareau and is renowned for its masterful engineering with entire walls and ceilings made of structural glass. Thematically complementing each other, this architectural masterpiece offers a beautifully dynamic space to showcase Huether’s work that is often inspired by the complex properties of light.
